How did you prepare for your internship job interview?
I researched the firm and its partners; and touched up on basic accounting concepts applicable to the position.
How do you become the intern that gets hired?
Be personable, likeable and knowledgeable.
Why did you choose to work at a local firm as opposed to a Big Four firm?
I liked the versatility of working in multiple departments and the ability to work with and advise local businesses.
What one piece of advice would you give a new staff accountant?
Always seek new opportunities to learn and grow as a professional.
What do you enjoy most about working in the profession?
The challenge of understanding and applying new and ever-changing accounting rules and concepts.
What advice would you give to an intern about to begin their first tax season?
Look at every piece of assigned work as an opportunity to learn.
